About Me
Hello! Thank you for taking a moment to read about me. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked as a school counselor for five years. I earned my BA in Psychology and Elementary Education from Fisk University and my Masters in Community Counseling from Argosy University. I am a proud native of Nashville, TN, but I have called GA home for many years. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and trying out new foods with my husband, family, and friends.
My areas of specialty include working with adolescents with learning differences, ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, and family issues. My work with adults includes marriage grief, self-esteem, relationship, infertility issues, spirituality/finding life purpose, perfectionism, life changes/challenges, and communication struggles. I hope to help clients discover and develop their own talents and strengths regardless of their past. I feel that our past can inform but does not dictate our present or future. I work from a strengths based and solutions focused perspective with a gentle, nurturing humanistic approach. I believe that every person is born with a unique purpose.
My experience has allowed me to work with a wonderfully diverse spectrum of people who have various psychological, emotional, and relational challenges. I have discovered that having flexibility in thinking and therapeutic approach is essential in establishing rapport and yielding best results. Rigidly adhering to one way of thinking or approaching therapy often limits results and misses the whole picture. I strive to approach each session with an open mind, listening ear, and an encouraging heart. I provide a warm, non-judgmental, collaborative environment and use a holistic approach to therapy by incorporating a variety of therapeutic modalities into my practice some of which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, DBT, Mindfulness Based Therapy, and Existential.
My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, nurturing space for clients to self-reflect and explore their greatest challenges. I encourage clients are to be authentic and open to make positive changes. Sometimes, life's challenges can interrupt the flow and hinder us from maximizing our unique potential. We might need a hand to help us to identify those strengths and abilities within so that we can regain hope and healing. I welcome the chance to partner with you as you embark upon your journey.
