About Me
My name is Mandy Squires, and I am an MFT-Intern. This means that I am licensed with the State of Nevada as a Couples and Family Therapist under a licensed supervisor. I received my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Prior to that, I completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a focus in couples and family therapy. In addition, I received a bachelor’s degree in theatre with an emphasis on acting and directing from the University of Northern Iowa. I also attended the School of Art Institute in Chicago for fine arts. My training, education, and life experiences make me uniquely qualified to work with couples, families, and individuals in all stages of their relationships.
I have experience helping a diverse group of clients and tailor treatment to fit each client’s unique needs. My approach is client-centered providing a systemic perspective to couples, families, and individuals. I have training in and utilize several different therapeutic approaches including, but not limited to, emotional focused therapy (EFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and experiential therapy with an emphasis on attachment style/theory. I have worked with a diverse population across race, sexual orientation, gender, and spirituality.
In couples’ therapy, I work with clients to enhance communication and closeness and improve their relationship. I especially enjoy working with couples in premarital counseling as a Prepare – Enrich facilitator. I have served individuals who suffer from dependency issues, adjustment to life changes, anxiety, trauma, behavioral-emotional issues and substance abuse issues. Also, I enjoy working with parents through struggles with children, communication issues and co-parenting.
I believe everyone has the capability of overcoming the challenges that life brings. My goal for clients is to provide a safe place to explore their fears and insecurities in a non-judgmental and empathetic environment where you feel understood.
I commend you for taking steps toward change and growth! It is a humbling privilege to be a fellow traveler on your journey. I look forward on meeting you soon.
