About Me
Shelle’ Monique Mathis is a native of Elyria, a mother of two beautiful children, and an ’83 graduate of Elyria High School. She obtained a certificate as a Paralegal from Tri-City Community college, an Associates of Arts degree from Lorain County Community College and is a graduate of Ashland Theological Seminary obtaining a Masters of Arts in Clinical Pastoral Counseling. She is a License Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and currently pursuing her Doctorate Degree in Christian Clinical Psychology (2019). She was sworn in as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (Guardian et Litem) for “Voices For Children” that represents the best interests of abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system. She is a grant writer and author.
She is presently CEO and Founder of Shelle M. Mathis Counseling Services LLC where she uses therapeutic approaches that will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that pose as an obstacle for moving forward. She counsels, celebrities (their families), couples, individuals, adolescents as wells as professional athletes and families. She specializes in substance abuse, depression and anxiety disorders.
She is presently CEO and Founder of Lilly in the Valley Christian Center (LIV) a non-profit 501c3 organization that has been created to heal the broken through the arts and holistic recovery by using eclectic counseling methods that will leave an imprint upon the hearts and lives of those recovering from mental health, substance abuse, and other life altering issues. “Cover Me” is part of LIV where she and volunteers give blankets, gloves and hats to the homeless in shelters and those on the streets. She volunteers monthly to feed the hungry at the local food banks.
She is an active member of the Suicide Prevention Coalition committee, Board of Director for Passion for Change, President of A.G.A.P.E. Youth Ministries, Inc., and facilitates a women’s group called “UnBREAKABLE ME” for women of abuse, “UnBREAKABLE HIM” a support group for men with depression and “UnBREAKABLE US” a family support group.
She has created an athlete program ROAR: Restoring Our Athletes through Recovery. This unique program is for the student athlete to the professional athlete. This program specializes in spiritual, physical and mental health for athletes and their families by addressing the issues such as domestic violence, depression, anger, criminal thinking, and drug abuse holistically and multi-system.
