About Me
Gina is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from California State University of Long Beach in English Education. She holds her Master’s of Arts degree from Liberty University in Professional Counseling. Gina spent 15 years working in education and has taught in one capacity or another from preschool through high school. Gina saw a need to help children and their families on a deeper level than her teaching position allowed. It was then that she began to pursue a career in counseling. Today Gina has had the privilege of working in private practice, the nonprofit sector, as well as the hospital setting.
Gina’s set of values and interpersonal skills have enabled her to build lasting therapeutic relationships with her clients. She feels the counselor and client’s connection is primary, believing that a strong therapeutic alliance enables clients to begin to work on what brought them to therapy.
Gina is committed to promoting clients’ mental health and holistic wellness regardless of the struggles they face. Throughout her career, she has successfully helped clients struggling with a wide range of issues. Gina works alongside her clients as an interactive, solution-focused therapist. She utilizes a holistic, whole-person approach to helping her clients restore balance and control in their life. Other methods of use may include Mindfulness, Deep Relaxation, Attachment Theory, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Gina believes that therapy is most effective when the counselor and client work together to identify and build on the client’s natural strengths while also encouraging them to reach and maintain treatment goals. Gina’s style is down to earth and direct, yet compassionate and caring. She also believes that a lot of the therapeutic work and positive change happens outside of the therapy room; therefore, “homework” may be given to implement what was discussed in our session and begin incorporating it in their daily lives.
