About Me
Life is full of challenges, and sometimes these can lead to stress and feelings of hopelessness that effect our everyday lives and relationships. I am here to provide a safe, caring, and compassionate environment that will encourage you to find your strengths and create internal motivation to facilitate change in your life. My focus is to help you recognize and explore your choices for achieving this change and to provide you with the tools and skills you need to live a fulfilling life. My style is more directive in nature, emphasizing accountability, self-development, growth and responsibility for one's own emotions and behaviors.
I specialize in relational issues (premarital, couples, and family) and am certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Prepare/Enrich Therapy for couples. I utilize many theoretical models, including: Reality Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, and other Systemic approaches.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Idaho as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors and approved LMFT/LCPC supervisor in Idaho. I work with a diverse population of individuals, couples and families and specialize in therapy that improves the relationships in my client’s lives. I am certified in Gottman Method Couples therapy and Prepare/Enrich for couples as well as PCIT (Parent Child Interaction Therapy). I also work with individuals who have experienced traumatic events in their lives and am a Certified Family Trauma Professional. I believe that everyone’s personal experiences and problems dictate the kind of therapy needed for that individual and will use an array of approaches to fit my client’s unique needs to reach their goals. Some of these approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, mindfulness, motivational therapy, and other approaches that address personal accountability and improvement.
