Betsy Christian Hicks

I seek to offer compassion and hope to anyone feeling stuck, unhappy, and unsure of the future. Through listening, empathizing, and processing, I employ a variety of counseling approaches, including Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral techniques. I enjoy working with teenagers, young professionals, and those who are in transitional seasons of life. Depression, anxiety, infidelity, infertility, grief, relationship struggles, career changes, OCD, bipolar disorder, and other mental health challenges are some of the areas that I see most often.

I value the role of spirituality in healing/growth & can incorporate spirituality into my counseling if desired. I offer Christian counseling, but also honor the beliefs of all faith traditions. I'm well-versed in counseling people going through life transitions that may not merit a mental health diagnosis, along with military and law enforcement families.

I received my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. I'm a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and am pursuing my license in Virginia. I expect full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 2020. It would be an honor to work with you or your loved ones on the journey to a more hope-filled life.
