About Me
I am a strengths-based therapist who works collaboratively with children and their families to recognize their strengths and build upon them. I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for every individual who is on their therapeutic journey.
I have experience working in residential treatment facilities working with youth in foster care who exhibited particularly challenging behaviors. I also worked as a Community Living Supports Aide in Grand Rapids and worked with parents and their children who were either emotional challenged or on the Autism Spectrum. During those years I developed a deep passion for helping children work through their struggles, as well as provide an additional adult in their lives that they can trust. During my graduate program, my internship was at the Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at Michigan Medicine. While there, I worked with adults of all ages who were in acute crises with several different mental health disorders ranging from Depression and Anxiety to Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder.
Hi my name is Nala! I assist in sessions as an emotional support animal. I am extremely goofy and friendly. My main goal is to make you smile, and not to brag, but I’m very good at it. I’ve been working in a therapy office ever since I’ve been rescued. My favorite hobbies include napping, making new friends (humans and dogs), and going for bike rides with my mom.
