About Me
I am a US Navy veteran who began a career in counseling after a decades long, successful career in business. My extensive life experiences are an integral part of my success as a therapist.
I am highly analytical, but at the same time very empathetic to the struggles of my clients. I like to accentuate the positive and at times I use humor to help create a enjoyable therapeutic experience. Life is hard, but if we cultivate the ability to sometimes laugh at our problems, that creates fertile ground for change.
My job satisfaction as a therapist comes from seeing big changes in my clients over a short period of time. I am continually honing my craft and pursuing more successful ways to effect meaningful change in my clients.
My therapeutic approach is evidence-based, client centered, treatments delivered with compassion, humor and intelligence. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and include elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Art Therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a psychosocial intervention that is the most widely used evidence-based practice for improving mental health. Guided by empirical research, CBT focuses on the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems and changing unhelpful patterns in cognitions (e.g. thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes), behaviors, and emotional regulation.
