About Me
With more than 28 years of clinical experience as a Behavioral Health Therapist (LCSW) and Certified Professional Life Coach, I bring years of clinical expertise and a proven track record to the therapeutic relationship. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati, where I interned at Children's Hospital and University Hospital. I started my career at the Yale Psychiatric Institute, which was a part of the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven CT., serving on a locked adolescent inpatient unit for 4 years. I have served as Manager/Clinical Coordinator of 3 Partial Day Hospital programs (PHP/IOP) at general and private hospitals, treating clients 12-79 years old. I have been licensed and practiced in four different states (CT, Ohio, KY, and VA). I have treated clients at every level of behavioral health care. In 2012 I accepted the position of Director of Social Work at The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place. I've worked as a therapist for a Navy subcontractor at the Naval Station Norfolk, in Norfolk VA where I treated active and non-active duty service members and their families. Throughout my career I have treated people struggling with depression, anxiety, marital difficulties, infidelity, loss of a job, domestic violence, and PTSD to name a few. Five years ago I launched my private practice full-time seeing clients out of my home office in Williamsburg.
I specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, and Family Systems to serve a broad spectrum of clients from every walk of life, socioeconomic background, religious affiliation, and sexual orientation.
My therapeutic approach is to challenge my client to identify patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors which have not resulted in positive outcomes. I help clients modify their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, extinguishing unhealthy patterns. Clients start to identify what has worked in their past. Once identified these positive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that have produced healthy outcomes are then consistently reinforced which helps clients to reach their personal goals, stabilize their moods and fulfill their maximum potential. The new actions lead clients to feel better about themselves, their circumstances, consistently creating better outcomes. I provide support and feedback to address negative self-talk and other destructive patterns. With compassion and understanding, I help clients to build on their strengths and attain their personal growth.
