About Me
Asya is a mindfulness-based therapist specializing in guiding individuals and families through the ups and downs of parenting, the challenges of relationships, and life transitions. Asya's approach to psychotherapy is based on kindness, compassion, and a deep level of trust in the client's process.
Asya's training includes a BA from the University of California, Berkeley where she majored in Psychology. She earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at SF State University. Asya's clinical skill development took place while completing a full-time 2-year internship at Community Institute for Psychotherapy and working at Pyramid Alternatives for 4 years. Her experience includes working in a variety of settings, including community outpatient clinics, day treatment facilities for children and families, and school-based services. In addition, she has completed Level one of Professional Hakomi Skill training.
Asya opened her practice in 2012 (license: LMFT #51838). Her engaging personality, gentle nature, and authentic presence create a safe environment where a trusting relationship is built through honesty and a lack of judgment. Her passion is the people she works with: walking alongside them, serving them, and empowering them to make healthy decisions for themselves.
When not with her clients, Asya enjoys hiking, doing yoga, reading, and spending time with her beloved husband and their sweet little daughters. Asya is also a Director of Professional Development at the Therapist Development Center where she creates continuing education courses and helps people pass licensing exams.
