About Me
Beth Reimel LMSW, PhD earned her MSW from Washington University and her PhD from the University of Chicago where she was also awarded s postdoctoral fellowship from the National Institute of Mental Health. In addition, Dr. Reimel has had postgraduate training in individual, couple and family therapy at Georgetown University and the Institute of Contextual Therapy. She has also had clinical training under the direction of psychiatrist Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy M.D. in Switzerland.
Currently in the private practice of individual, couple and family, Dr. Reimel has also been the director of a counseling department in a social agency as well as having taught classes in counseling at two graduate university programs. These experiences have increased her ability to work effectively with clients from a diverse background.
Dr. Reimel's interest in treating people experiencing grief and loss from many sources resulted in her assisting to organize an in-home hospice program and presenting workshops on dealing with grief and loss. She recognizes the negative influence on peoples well being when significant losses are not recognized and grieved.
Working collaboratively with her clients, keeping abreast of research in her field, and being authentically present to her clients all characterize Dr. Reimel's approach to counseling. She is committed to to helping her clients achieve a satisfying, constructive life with healthy self esteem and healthy relationships.
