About Me
From a young age Betty has been passionate about helping others embark on their own personal journey towards healing, wholeness, and purpose. Upon receiving her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Georgia Southern University, Betty went on to pursue her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Betty believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. She values providing a place to reflect, restore, and rebuild by both increasing one’s awareness and also addressing the wounds from the past. Her goal is to bring empathy and compassion to help remove the shame, guilt, and confusion often attached with life’s difficulties. Betty utilizes custom treatment approaches, interventions, and counseling theories to help her clients reach their goals.
Betty gained valuable experience while working at a college counseling center with emerging adults experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career concerns, sexual identity concerns, and other life transitions. She also worked with process groups around various issues regarding self-esteem, family concerns, and disordered views associated with food and body. Prior to graduate school, Betty worked in youth ministry and non-profit organizations including City of Refuge and Christian City Children’s Village gaining experience with abused and neglected children and adolescents.
Note: Counselor’s full legal name, and name under which she is licensed, is Molly Gebhardt. Informally she uses “Betty” as her first name.
