Brett Morley

Welcome! I established Playful Healing in 2019 so that I could provide individualized counseling services for the community in which I live.

My passion for working in the mental health field started in the Berthoud High school counseling office where I was chosen as a Peer Support Counselor my junior and senior year. There I was able to work closely with high school students, discussing their strengths and struggles, providing them support and encouragement. My Schooling has taken me on several different paths. Starting at Front Range Community College for my Associates. Then I went on to Colorado Christian University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in biblical studies. After CCU I tried my hand in several different counseling fields until I chose to go back to Graduate school. My first graduate school experience was at Naropa University, a small contemporary Buddhist inspired school in Boulder. There I studied Transpersonal counseling focusing on mindfulness and meditation. My initial interest in counseling from high school eventually led me to finish my graduate studies at the University of Northern Colorado where I received my MA in School Counseling (2017).

While attending graduate school I was introduced to Play Therapy. I immediately found my calling in this practice and am now working towards completing the certification process. After graduating I worked in an elementary school utilizing Play Therapy and child-centered counseling practices to support the children in the school. That experience helped me hone my practice and determine that the best way I could support the children and adults in my community was through one-on-one counseling services. Play therapy is not only for children but can also help adults find that playful spirit that many of us lose and regain control over our lives.

I was born and raised in Northern Colorado. Outside of work my interests align with all the beauty Colorado has to offer – hiking, biking, and snowboarding being at the top of the list. My wife and puppy join me on these adventures, and as a family we always make the best of the year-round recreation our beautiful state has to offer.
