About Me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri (No. 2013022876), a National Certified Counselor, and a Board Certified Telemental Health provider. I have a doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision and a Master of Arts in Human Development Counseling. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
My training includes counseling children, adolescents, and adults with concerns related to mood disorders, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, acculturation, gender identity, coping skills, and self-esteem. I am also trained in providing ethical and appropriate telemental health services.
I draw from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy framework, meaning that I emphasize helping people to identify their values and then take action to live in accordance with those values. I believe that the therapeutic alliance both creates the foundation for growth and propels the process of change. I work well with people who know that they are ready for this change. The reasons why we want change aren't always due to our own actions - sometimes the people or circumstances in our lives prompt us to seek something different. This pandemic has stirred up a lot of underlying conflicts that may have gone unseen or unaddressed in the past. My role as your counselor now is to provide an affirming environment to recognize your values, process your concerns, and develop a plan of action that fits you. I will also connect you with resources to use outside of our sessions to support the work that we do together.
