About Me
After 17 years in another career, I returned to school and obtained my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Mississippi College. My undergraduate degree in Psychology is from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. I have completed Level I, II and III Training with the Gottman Institute and use the Gottman method with couples. I have also completed training that allows me to use EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This form of therapy has been proven to work well with trauma; we are now utilizing EMDR with anxiety and other emotional issues. I work primarily with adults and exclusively through telahealth - video conferencing and phone. I believe telahealth allows the client to fully participate from the comfort of their own space. I offer a free 15-20 minute consultation online in order for the client to see how it works and become comfortable.
I have been in private practice for almost 10 years. Prior to this, I have worked in a mental hospital, dual diagnosis private hospital, and an intensive outpatient program for dual diagnosis. I am also a Supervisor for Counselors in Training.
I love what I do; I accept people where they are without judgment and listen to their needs and concerns. I am compassionate and strong, willing to offer support and gently challenge the client to explore other perspectives and take responsibility for their happiness. Life is short and can be very difficult. Sometimes we need someone to help us make tough decisions and move on with our lives. I would like to be the one to help you do just that. I encourage you to make an investment in yourself and get in touch with me.
