Cynthia Starnes

I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been practicing in the Charlottesville, Virginia area for the past 13 years. I attended Virginia Commonwealth University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Early on, I developed an interest in working with women and children who were victims of domestic violence and abuse. This began my experience working with victims of many types of trauma and earning advanced certificates in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy with both adults and children.

I also enjoy working with the immigrant community and greatly appreciate the wide diversity in clients I have served. I have experience working with the healthcare community which originated in my history as an EMT for 12 years. In my spare time, I enjoy being in nature, gardening, hiking, and spending time with my family. I am a strong believer that no one can help everybody, but everybody can help someone and my job is to help my clients find the courage to overcome the barriers that prevent them from finding inner peace, the strength to pursue their dreams, and the ability to trust themselves to do what is best for them.
