David Kupfer

Dr. David L. Kupfer Ph.D. has been serving as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Virginia since 1981. His office is in Falls Church, Virginia, and he offers psychotherapy in person and by a video connection. He specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy for anxiety disorders, and was honored by Washingtonian Magazine in 2009 as a Top Therapist in the DC area. His experience includes treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and Sleep Disorders. Primarily a cognitive-behavioral therapist, he has had significant training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Bioenergetics, couples and family therapy, and EMDR.

Before establishing a practice in Northern Virginia, Dr. Kupfer served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Florida Medical Center, and was a co-founder of Tidewater Psychotherapy Services in Virginia Beach. His undergraduate degree is from the University of Pennsylvania, and he earned graduate degrees from the University of Georgia.
