About Me
First and foremost, counseling is about you and fulfilling what you need and what you want. We work together to discover what would help you live a happier, more fulfilled life and uncover what is keeping you stuck. We will unlock and breakdown the obstacles that are keeping your problem in place and develop insight and better strategies to move forward.
I help individuals who are sad, worried or feeling uncomfortable in their own skin, but not understanding why. You may find yourself shying away from uncomfortable feelings. I help you learn more effective ways of coping with your feelings while paying attention to what is really going on inside by using easy, effective techniques and exercises along with talk therapy. I use cognitive behavioral therapy along with insights from specialized training in a Emotional Childhood Neglect to help you find solutions to unresolved issues. Tapping into your own feelings and validating them yourself can help you shift from anxiety, worry, sadness, self-blame, feeling isolated or like you are a bother to others to a happier and calmer place. You can learn to put your needs first without feeling selfish. Counseling is tailor made to suit your specific wants and needs.
I use Gottman Method Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy to help couples shift out of communication gridlock into a more productive discussion of what they need and want from each other. Couples learn how to listen, understand and validate each other. Conflicts are inevitable in relationships, but how you respond to a conflict is key to creating long term satisfaction and happiness. Premarital and married couples find that couples counseling can greatly improve couple closeness and connection.
