About Me
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist as well as a Registered Art Therapist. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor's in Human Development and Family Studies and an emphasis in Child Development, I began working along side children with special needs and their families. I knew I had a passion for working with people, and I had another passion for the art making process. I graduated from the Adler Graduate School in 2014 and connected my two passions. In addition to working in-home with clients providing skill based therapy services, I have also worked in partial hospital settings as a program therapist providing group and individual therapy to children and adolescents as well as their families. Four years ago I moved to work in outpatient clinical settings in order to better meet the needs of clients. Within every setting, and where appropriate, I incorporate creative interventions and mind-body approaches.
I believe for therapy to be successful there must be a positive and mutually respectful relationship between client and therapist. Therefore I focus on helping individuals feel comfortable as they engage in the process of understanding themselves and the world around them. I work with my clients from an interpersonal, humanistic as well as family systems approach. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic approaches.
Clients who have worked with me appreciate my passionate, straightforward yet down-to-earth approach.
My clinical specialties include working with teens and young adults who face emotional and behavioral issues, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, attachment injuries and relational distress.
