About Me

Dr. Michael C. Zarabi is a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist in New Jersey and New York, treating adolescents, adults, and families. He received his doctorate from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. Dr. Zarabi completed his doctoral research in the area of chronic illness, a specialty in his practice. Specifically, he focused on the psychological and educational impact of inflammatory bowel disease, conducting research in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Morristown Medical Center.

Dr. Zarabi also has a publication that addresses the issue of chronic illness in schools entitled Inflammatory Bowel Disease: The Impact on Student Functioning (2009). He has spoken at various conferences including the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America and the American Group Psychotherapy Association.

Dr. Zarabi treats anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, anger management, behavior issues, and provides weight loss counseling/bariatric evaluations. He also conducts diagnostic psychological evaluations, and provides counseling to parents regarding IEP and 504 accommodations.

His method in practice involves the patient as the central component that drives treatment. He strives to understand, identify, and manage individual needs, while providing useful and applicable skills for improved daily functioning. Dr. Zarabi's focus is for his patients to achieve their goals, by speaking with them, rather than at them.

Aside from his private practice, Dr. Zarabi is a psychologist for the department of bariatric medicine at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ. He is also on staff at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ. Dr. Zarabi was chosen by New Jersey Family Magazine as a Top Doc for Kids.
